Dinosaurs

I'm loving being Wenxin's mom.  Tonight, he actually let me read TWO books in English to him.  The second was a little board book called How Do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms?  We've read it several times and he's memorized the ending.  As I started to read it, he grabbed another book off the coffee table:  a dinosaur encyclopedia that Nathan had been reading earlier.  He began to look at the fun childish illustrations in the board book and try to find the "real" dinosaurs in the encyclopedia.  And he was successful several times.  Then he grabbed the magna-doodle and asked me to help him draw some of the dinosaurs.  He was so excited and engaged.  This is the same kid who seemed to have about a 10 second attention span when we met him a month ago.  He is relaxing and settling down.  I can see a very bright boy in there!

  3. Karen - Just ordered some more "How do Dinosaurs" books from our library. Our public library delivers to your home for free! His English just seems to improve by leaps and bounds every day so I think he'll enjoy some of the other books in the series. We say, "Thank, you, thank you, little dinosaur," to each other a lot just to be silly.

  4. And Tabby - The best description of how to say his name that I can come up with is Wen Sheen. Of course it's tonal, but he seems to have dropped the tones here in America.
